Olive Rush’s Indiana farm family grew flax for linen and raised sheep for wool, and the women all spun, wove, knitted, crocheted, and sewed. An entry in Rush’s journal at age 16 says: “commenced making dresses and … some aprons to take to Earlham.”

In this Valentine’s-themed workshop, you will create a cozy, hand-knit chunky blanket—perfect for celebrating love, connection, and comfort. Whether you’re making it as a heartfelt gift for someone special or as a keepsake for yourself, this soft, oversized blanket is designed to wrap you in warmth and intention.

No needles or prior knitting experience required. This class is ideal for beginners and creatives of all skill levels who want to learn a relaxing, tactile craft while creating something meaningful and beautiful.

You will be guided step-by-step through the process, from selecting romantic or neutral color palettes to understanding yarn textures and mastering the basic hand-knitting techniques needed to complete your blanket. Each participant will leave with a finished (or nearly finished) Valentine’s Day chunky knit blanket and the confidence to continue creating at home.

COST: $65.00 plus $40.00 materials fee collected the day of the class
